Welcome to the Mantaga Adventure Divers’ official site!

Enter and immerse yourself in a series of articles and trip reports of cave diving expeditions conducted in various freshwater caves and springs located in the Central and Southern Philippines!

The MAD Cavers, as we like to call ourselves is composed of Bernil, Doc Amores and several associates. Our base of operation is in Mactan Island, Cebu.

Bernil is a full-time SCUBA Instructor with a PADI IDCS  & DSAT Tec Deep Instructor Rating; certified in IANTD Technical Cave, Advanced Cave- Sidemount, Technical Wreck & DSAT Trimix. [Professional Association of Diving Instructors; Diving Science and Technology; International Association of Nitrox and Technical Divers]

Doc Amores is a plastic surgeon by trade. He holds a Trimix Diver certificate in Open and Closed Circuit; he is also an Evolution CCR Recreational-Level Instructor. His cave diving certification was earned from the National Association of Cave Divers (USA)  and all of his training was conducted  in the vast fresh water cave systems of Florida.

We do not conduct our explorations for profit, but merely for documentation of the various springs and underwater caves that exist in the Visayas and Mindanao regions. We consider the process as an adventure and we also do it in the hope of creating a tourism potential for the locality that is lucky to have a diveable fresh water cave.

Finally found your site – very interesting…

  2. To the others who have posted comments, I am a former mountain guide and am actively exploring caves in the Philippines. Feel free to contact me; perhaps we can all work together with Bernil to explore more of the Philippines.

  3. Hi Bernil,

I am planning a trip to Bohol to explore caves in October. Can I have your email so we can talk about what you have done so far? Perhaps we can share notes or work together.

Your stories are excellent. I look forward to more.

    Good Diving,

Hi….I am a member of a mountaineering club who also explores caves especially caves with vertical entrances that needs rapelling skills. I am so amazed at Cave Divers’ skills like you. I hope we can experience cave diving too and be able to learn more skills in cave explo.
