Surigao Explorations

The MAD Cavers considers the Southern Philippines a playground for cave divers! Freshwater springs, lakes and cave systems lay await for the intrepid explorers to visit and lay the first line.

Hinatuan Enchanted River, Surigao del Sur

The Hinatuan Enchanted River Head Spring  was first explored by the MAD Cavers in 2010. Since then, the area has steadily gained popularity not only for cave divers but also for recreational divers as well who want to experience the unmatched water clarity and the exhilaration of “flying” above a deep canyon!  Of course, they remain within recreational depth limits and no penetration into the cavern or cave.

Thirst for knowledge unquenched, the MAD Cavers went back to Hinatuan in 2011 and was challenged anew by an occurrence they did not expect!
